然后我們便來(lái)到了“南天一柱”。 “天涯”“海角”二石東走約三百米，一尊高大兀立的圓錐形奇石，象一支神筆直指蒼穹，這便是“南天一柱”石，高約 7米，正面看像一顆哲人的頭顱，側(cè)面看像一艘古船上升起的“雙桅帆”。第四版2元人民幣背面的圖案就是這里的“南天一柱”。有傳說(shuō)講，它是“共工怒而觸不周山，天柱折，地維絕”的“天柱”一截，被派遣到這里來(lái)獨(dú)撐南天。清宣統(tǒng)元年(1911年)，當(dāng)時(shí)的崖州知州范云梯就根據(jù)上述說(shuō)法，題刻下“南天一柱”這四個(gè)大字。
