在進(jìn)大雄寶殿前,我們先留意一下大雄寶殿前的漢白玉欄桿,全長(zhǎng)34.50米,柱高1.5米,欄板高0.7米,采用蓮花寶座和海棠的圖案。這只鐵香爐上鑄有“大化陶熔”四字,暗示了佛的神通廣大,意為佛的教化可以造就信徒成為大器。大殿前的一對(duì)石柱,稱為“露盤(pán)”,是和尚就餐前放飯盛水,以供所謂餓鬼食用的器具。
殿內(nèi)正中供奉的是釋迎牟尼佛木雕像,左邊長(zhǎng)者為迦葉,右邊年輕的叫阿難,他們是如來(lái)的得力弟子。佛祖逝世后,迦葉在靈鷲山主持了佛教信徒的第一次集會(huì);阿難是佛祖的從弟,聰明有智慧,擅長(zhǎng)記憶,跟隨佛祖25年,把佛祖生前的講經(jīng)說(shuō)法都寫(xiě)在貝葉樹(shù)的葉子上,成了佛經(jīng)。1924年“戊戌變法”改良家康有為參拜寒山寺,曾寫(xiě)了一副“真經(jīng)書(shū)貝葉,法果證菩提”的對(duì)聯(lián),點(diǎn)出了佛經(jīng)的歷史,墨寶現(xiàn)珍藏在寒山寺楓江樓里,成為寒山寺重要文物。
